Georgia Halfback Peyton Barber Commits to Ole Miss (And an Important Editorial Note)

[ED: Greetings from Lake City, Colorado, population ~300. I - tGoJC - am currently in the middle of nowhere and loving every bit of it. I'm taking a much needed vacation, doing some offroading, some hiking, a lot of drinking and even more sleeping. My internet access will, by design, be severely limited, and I'll be here for this entire week, so I've left the blog in the capable hands of Juco. He, though, is a busy man, so we will be relying somewhat heavily on fanshots and fan posts. This one was great, so after a few formatting changes I frontpaged it. Keep up the good work, Olemissreb451 and others, because y'all are going to be the site's driving force for a few days. Now, on to the good news out of Georgia.]

Peyton Barber, a 5'10", 210 pound halfback out of Milton high school in Alpharetta, GA, committed to Ole Miss this weekend. Described as a "shifty power back with good center of gravity and balance," he is rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and a 3-star recruit by Rivals. It appears that he was the one of the higher running back on the coaching staffs board [It also appears that he's excited about his commitment, so the love is mutual].

This makes three running backs committed in this class, and 19 commitments overall so far.

Barber claims a 4.52 second 40 yard dash and a max bench press of 365 lbs. He reminds me a bit of Knowshon Moreno in his high school highlight video (after the jump). Peyton looks capable of carrying the load, which would make other commits Eugene Brazley and Mark Dodson nice complementary change of pace backs. From what I understand he will be the last Running Back commitment we will take, with the exception of a flipped commitment from current Mississippi State verbal commitment and Rosedale HS star Kalio Moore, or a longer shot commitment from Derrick Green.

We at the Cup love this pick up for Freeze and Company. If things stick (and they never do, we realize that), we should be a deep team in the backfield in the next few years. Hotty Toddy.
