It's Official: Teams Have No Duty to Protect Fans From Trent Rothlin

This morning, while perusing today's North Carolina Court of Appeals Opinions (ah...the life of an asshole), I noticed a new opinion regarding negligence on behalf of baseball leagues, teams, and park owners.

The case concerned a wild pitch that flew out of a collegiate pitcher's hand and missed the bullpen, entirely, flying into the stands and injuring a fan (who, like Andy Kennedy, didn't have much sex for a while). This happened in the summer of 2009, during a Coastal Plain League game.

The pitcher: none other than former Rebel, Trent Rothlin.

The fan sued everybody, except Trent Rothlin. He lost. The following link will send you to the court opinion: http://appellate.nccourts.org/opinions/?c=2&pdf=MjAxMi8xMi02NS0xLnBkZg==
