Sorry I missed last week. I had finals and graduation [ED: Congrats. Welcome to the real world. Prepare to be broke.] and what not this past week.
First, a couple of things from the week that I missed:
- Lance Lynn won (again) moving to 6-0. Important because he was the first Cardinal to win his first 6 starts since 1994.
- Drew Pomeranz was amazing in his start. He allowed only 1 ER and had 5 Ks but the bullpen blew his W. Not to mention he hit a solo home run, his first in the majors.
This past week's stats will be below the jump. Not a good week to be a former Rebel. 3 were sent back down to the Minors this past week.Lance Lynn (Cardinals)- Lynn suffered his first loss of the season on Sunday to the Atlanta Braves. He wasn't terrible going 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs with 7 Ks, but the Braves are the highest scoring team in the NL so the numbers aren't that bad. He is now 6-1 with a 1.81 ERA with a .90 WHIP. Those are all still at the top of the NL and MLB.
Drew Pomeranz (Rockies)- Pomeranz had another bad outing allowing 3 runs in just 3 innings. He struck out 2 and walked 3. However, a bright spot in this game is that Pomeranz did hit a HR. A little bad news to report about Pomeranz though. He was sent back down to AAA this past week. Hope he can get his confidence back and get called back up.
Seth Smith (A's)- Seth might have had the week he needed this past week to finally get going. Seth with 6 of 17 (.353) this past week with a HR and 4 BBs. That is much better than Seth has been playing this year. He has raised his average up to .244 with 3 HRs and an OBP of .394. Let's hope stays hot.
Zack Cozart (Reds)- This past week, Zack went 6 of 26 (.231) with 1 HR, 2 RBIs, and 2 BBs. This brings his batting average down to .264 with 2 HRs and 8 RBIs. Zack is still playing really good defense for the Reds. I feel like his bat will eventually come around.
Chris Coghlan (Marlins)- As I have been saying for a couple of weeks now, Coghlan is back in the minors. He was sent down on Sunday after their loss to the DBacks. He was hitting .118 on the season. [ED: Really frustrating when considering Coghlan's rookie season. Hopefully he'll come back around.]
Alex Presley (Pirates)- Alex had a pretty bad week going 1 for 11 (.091) He is only hitting .100 in this month. His average is now down to .232 with an OBP of .252. As a leadoff hitter, Alex takes no walks (3 all season) which is not good. He has been splitting time this past week or so with Nate McLouth.
