So the earlier today I got curious and decided to head on over to Cow College's blog, "For Whom the Cowbell Tolls", and see what's been going on in the pastures of Starkville. As I read some of the comments on the upcoming football season, I saw that some of the farmers believe that they have a chance at a 9 or possibly 10 win season! Now... I know that these rednecks can get pretty worked up over just about anything, but I can't see how they possibly can convince themselves that they could be in the running for an SEC West title. With them playing at Alabama, at LSU, at OM, and bringing in Texas A&M and Arkansas in between those weeks, I can possibly see them winning around 6-7 before the Egg Bowl. But a 10 win season sounds like a little much to me. The only reason they will even get to 6 or 7 is because they play one of the easiest early schedules I've ever seen! Seriously! Go look at it. They play nobody even decent outside of the SEC. To Danny and the rest of the Cow College athletic department... This is why you haven't and won't win consistently on the SEC level. You cannot play cupcakes the first 5 or 6 weeks of the season and expect your guys to be mentally and physically prepared to beat Alabama and LSU. Alabama and LSU can do that because they're recruiting 5 star players every year. You are not. Bjork and Freeze... I know this will be a tough year but DO NOT schedule 4-5 games a year against cupcake teams. Two a year will suffice. One to star the season and one for homecoming. We must not allow ourselves to become content to be in the cellar or even to hover in the middle of the pack like MSU has these past couple of years. If we ever plan on becoming a championship caliber football team, we must play quality opponents. Not for this year's team, but for the freshmen and sophomores who must learn to show up every week. Just to clear things up to all you farmers who will say I'm obsessed with "State", I am only obsessed with one athletics program in MS. That would be Ole Miss. Shoot! I don't even go to Mississippi College games.
This has been my first post so any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I promise I'll try to do better next time! Hotty Toddy! And Go Chocs!
