DT Shackleford
Does anybody know the specifics of DT's procedure that has to be redone on his ACL. This was his latest facebook status : " Thank everybody for their prayers. This situation will get better with time, just got to be patient. I heard a few people saying "D.T. you sure you will be able to recover and perform at a high level again, I'm not sure you can after back to back surgeries." I told them this all with God's timing and imma work my butt off. They probably dont believe me, just like they never believed I could go to a division one school from Austin, or graduate early. i guess what people tell me i can't do is what motivates and propels me to Never Quit. This all will get better with time and a heart to Work... God Bless.. Go Rebels " That sounds like it could be worse than people are saying it is. Anyways, for anybody with inside resources, commentary would be greatly appreciated!

Apparently, his initial surgery didn't get the job done as well as it should have.
He never really recovered from the injury. He’s having more work done and, fingers crossed, will be able to heal properly as a result.
I hate it for him, not only because he’s a great linebacker, but because he seems like a genuinely great guy as well.

I really love his attitude about it.
I guess that’s just a thin silver lining on a big steaming pile…

I know one thing
He’s a hard worker. He is always taking notes in the class I have with him.
In my body, where the shame gland should be, there is a second awesome gland. True story.

I certainly don't know any specifics, but I am an OR nurse and have done more of these types of procedures than I can remember.
For a follow-up surgery on and ACL tear, it is most often going to be graft failure where they redo the entire procedure, and you’re back to square one. Other than that, it could just be a case of scoping his knee again to clean up anything that didn’t get smoothed out enough the first time. If that’s the case, then he should be good to go after a couple weeks. Unfortunately, my money’s on the former, but it could be something something small. Sorry to be a Debby Downer….
