YouTube Video: Pastor Dan Mullen
On National Signing Day, Dan Mullen made some remarks that seemed to be a thinly veiled shot at Coach Freeze:
"A lot of people are going to get up and preach about what their program is and when they get there, the guys all of the sudden realize it is something very different. They get up and preach but yet they don't live it. These young men had the opportunity to not just hear us preach about our program, but see that we actually live it."
A YouTube video, posted on the Friday after NSD, has taken this speech and integrated some risqué footage of the Bulldogs' locker room celebration after the Egg Bowl. While I don't think the locker room celebrations of eighteen-year-olds should be taken seriously (and I don't give a shit about "foul" language), this video does show to some extent how Mullen's remarks mostly consist of hollow dipshittery meant to get under the skin of Ole Miss fans. If you hate Dan Mullen, you'll enjoy the video.

Eh...
I do hate Dan Mullen, and I thought the video was kinda lame. As you said, big deal, 18 year old kids like to party to popular rap songs. Shocker. I’ve seen enough Ole Miss undergrads boogeying to the same stupid song to fill a warehouse.
More than that, though, I thought the crawl at the bottom throwing in the phrase “Christ-Centered Program?” was sort of bullshit. Not only did Mullen never say he ran a “Christ-Centered Program”, but what the fuck is a “Christ-Centered” football program? Was it done to imply that, unlike that phony-baloney Mullen, Freeze WILL be running a Christ-Centered football program? Was it trying to throw an extra, super-duper layer of hypocrisy, one that wasn’t really there, on top of Mullen?
As you kind of imply, Mullen’s enough of a jackoff as it is. We don’t need to start making shit up in order to embarrass him or his “Happy to Settle for Second Tier” fanbase. Let’s goof on the reality of the situation; Mullen can go 6-6 every season for the rest of his career and never win an SEC-W game outside of The Egg Bowl, and MSU fans would build a statue of the guy. His entire legacy is going to be built around taunting Ole Miss, since at the end of the day, that’s the only thing that matters to Bulldog fans. That’s pathetic.
I agree with you.
I thought this video was humorous in the “well at least it makes fun of Dan Mullen” way, but “lame” is a pretty good description for both the video and the joke it makes. It’s a cheap shot based off of a faulty interpretation of something said for a joke that’s only funny for about five seconds.
To your second point, I actually thought about not posting the video at all because it comes off as being made by somebody who might be sort of a holy roller. I also thought about stating in the description that I wasn’t a religious person and didn’t necessarily like the religious undertone of the video, but I decided to just leave it alone. The last thing I want is for people to start mixing their religious beliefs with their college football fandom.
I just posted the video because people were discussing it on other message boards, and it’s a slightly amusing joke at Dan Mullen’s expense. As far as my views on State and Mullen go, your third paragraph pretty much hits the nail on the head.
I always say 'beer me.' It gets a laugh, like, a quarter of the time.

Cool.
No hard feeling or anything. I figured you were posting the vid, not to endorse it, but in more of a “Hey, here’s something Ole Miss v. ’State” kind of way. There’s been that weird, on-going YouTube pissing match between the two fanbases, so, it’s relevant, and you were bringing it to the RCR’s attention. Cool.
