Danny O'Brien to Ole Miss?
Danny O'Brien, quarterback of the Maryland Terrapins, is leaving College Park for what he hopes are greener pastures elsewhere. Head coach of the Terps, Randy Edsall, won't release O'Brien to transfer to another ACC school or Vanderbilt, which is now coached by James Franklin, the man who recruited O'Brien to Maryland. He is rumored to be interested in transferring to our Ole Miss, along with Arizona and South Florida. Now, while I don't doubt our SB Nation overlords, the linked source is the only place I've heard this rumor. I guess that "[QUARTERBACK] interested in transferring to Ole Miss" has become a common enough headline over the past few offseasons for people to just assume we're in the hunt at this point.

Have you been to College Park, Maryland?
Trust me, you’d leave too.

If you're looking for further sourcing, the Washington Post said that we had expressed interest to him.
I’ve heard that this is indeed the case, as he has a good arm and is apparently quite athletic. Hugh seems to think he would fit in our “system” quite well.
I'd welcome it
The more good qbs the better. If anything it will make the competition better and push the kids harder. Besides he will have to sit out a year anyways right? If Bo Wallace ends up being the next zach stoudt Itd be nice to have Danny O’brien to lean on the following year.

I'd rather not start that circus again
But at least this guy hasn’t been arrested.
Right?
Nobody cares about your signature.
Wrong
Everyone in College Park has been arrested.

Doesn't
have to sit out a year. He is graduating as a Sophomore. Could play next year.
all these QBs makes me think
we might be telling Brunetti and Mackey to try out at slot WR or GTFO

I don't think someone with a name like Danny O'Brien will be allowed to leave the Eastern Seaboard area.
The Sports Gods will not be kind if we attempt to steal such an Irishman from the Colonial stronghold. Perhaps we should allow this curse to befall another school?
who says we dont have Irish in the south?

this flute was passed down thousands of years from his great-great-grandfather who is Irish. everbody who see the leprechaun say yeah

I'll say this
I’m not excited about the prospect of another transfer QB. However, he was ACC FOTY. He’s not a juco transfer, or a guy who only played one quarter or mop up duty at another school. So at least his credentials are better than any of the other guys we have.
He had a solid Fr year
Rating of 134.5
57% completion for 2438 yards 22 TDs vs 8 INT
Maryland fell dick first into a 2-10 record last year so obviously his #s dipped
109.6
56% completion for 1648 yards 7 TDs vs 10 INTs
Solid pickup for somone and he along with Wallace would ensure that we could make it from 2005 – 2015 without playing a QB that we recruited out of highschool.
Graduated in 2 years?
I don’t see how they could stop him from going to Vandy.
I would think Arizona would be his first choice of the three, because of seeing RichRods offense and they lost Nick Foles.
More NFL QB’s tend to come out of the Pac-10/12.
I’d take him due to experience, intellect, and I’d like to hedge my bet at QB.

They can't stop him from going to Vandy, but under NCAA scholly by-laws, they can keep him off scholly there for a year.

I think he ends up going to Vandy. If his family can pay his way for a year, I think he'll take the chance to play for Franklin.
He wanted to play for Franklin to begin with, now he’ll have a chance to play for him as a HC, not to mention, Franklin will be pushing HARD on that whole, “be a part of something special at Vandy” angle. Not that he couldn’t be a part of something special/resurrection here, but Vandy is clearly well ahead of our situation.
That's a hard MF'ing fact of life
but it’s one we’re going to have to deal with

Vandy may be ahead,
but I think they screwed themselves by not making a commitment to football when Johnson was there.
Franklin will be in Nashville maybe, 3 years. I can see him being offered a better job somewhere else.
With Mizzou now in the east, his job just got tougher. Vandy has an expiration date on their Cinderella story. It is impossible for Vandy to get 6 or more wins consistently now that the league has expanded.

If his parents can afford to pay for Vandy
I doubt he would’ve needed a scholarship to begin with.

Is it too much to ask...
for a quarterback that wanted to come to Ole Miss the whole damn time?
I never get Chicken on a Stick at Chicken on a Stick, but I love Chicken on a Stick.
NO
I’m sick of these transfer QBs.
