I'm making the trip to Oxford this weekend with a few college friends and we were all excited to experience the Grove firsthand and get that true Saturday tailgate experience (went to a small school in the Northeast which somehow wasn't quite the same). We booked rooms at the Comfort Inn in Oxford back in March for $89 a night but upon calling this week to check on the reservation, we found it had been "cancelled" for no apparent reason and without any notice. They are now telling us we the nightly rate is $275. A quick Google search reveals we aren't the first guests to fall victim to this scheme at this particular establishment.

I've heard of this happening other places on football weekends but I was curious if anyone has ever experienced something similar at the Comfort Inn or had any advice on how to handle this. We've been on the phone with the hotel and the corporate line most of the day and will continue trying but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
