RCRuiting: Bo Wallace Commits to Ole Miss
Bo Wallace's EMCC Highlights
East Mississippi Community College quarterback Bo Wallace, a Junior College All-American (sound familiar?), committed to Ole Miss today per OMSpirit's Ben Garrett. Wallace, a 6'5" 215 pound prospect, threw for 4,400+ yards and 50+ touchdowns on the season as he led EMCC to a Junior College national championship.
Coming out of Pulaski, Tennessee, Wallace originally signed with Arkansas State where he was coached by then-OC Hugh Freeze. He sat behind Sun Belt offensive player of the year Ryan Alpin at quarterback, though, which prompted his transfer to junior college. After this past season's junior college successes, Wallace was recruited by Mississippi State, Baylor, Nebraska, and Texas along with our Ole Miss.
If you listened to this week's Red Cup Radio, you heard a discussion about where we project Bo Wallace in next fall's depth chart. Simply, we think he's a shoe-in to start for the Rebels due to his size, experience, and familiarity with Hugh Freeze's offensive scheme.

Congratulations, Mr. Wallace.
I just have one request from you: Please don’t get suspended before the first game (or preferably ever). Other than that, just study hard, practice hard, and win some games. That is all. Hotty Toddy.

alright alright
I’m wondering if we have another Stoudt or a Aaron Rodgers type player. Personally, I’d be happy with the median. I guess we’ll find out. Hotty Toddy.

This seems to be......
Great News! Let’s hope he can help the Rebels win a couple of games and boost our recruiting. Nice snag Freeze.
Do we really have to wait for the next Manning to be relevent again?
So..."This IS Our STATE?"-MSU
Some of you guys are lawyers, why don’t oone of you sue State for their billboards on the premise of false advertisement? Demand they be removed. After we snatch the last few recruits on their list from em’, I don’t know how they can keep making the statement and keep a straight face..

Not a fan of Juco QBs buts we need help and the answer is not on campus atm. This guy looks pretty good, with good play calling, and the improved defense we could get 6 wins.

This one could be
different. He’s got 3 years of eligibility instead of the usual JUCO-2-years.

Barry Brunetti and Bo Wallace will be an interesting spring battle to watch…
I just don’t see HF handing the keys to the offense to an undisciplined Senior in Randall Mackey unless he dramatically seperates from the rest of the QB’s.

not really
considering Brunetti is terrible. Hopefully Bo is an upgrade over the other QB’s currently on the roster.

Rec'd.
I saw people on the rivals message board talking about how we could win 6 games next year, which I won’t let myself believe unless I see it. However, it did remind me of how wooly/irrationally optimistic I’ll probably be once August rolls around.
I will say that the fact that people (including myself) can still feel hopeful and excited about the future of a program that just had a 2-10 season is a testament to the persisting optimism of Ole Miss fans. If that’s not special then it’s at least emotionally exhausting pretty entertaining.

6 could happen, but its doubtful.
But I could see 4-5. Central Arkansas, utep, Tulane, vandy, state, are all very winnable. And I dont think Texas or Texas a&m are necessarily unwinnable games. I think realistically we end up with wins against UCA, Utep, Tulane, vandy, and state and finish 5-7.

I know it's tough
but I’m trying to not get too excited. First I’d like to still be excited at the end of the season, either Football or Basketball cause this past year and this year both have been terrible. I am happy with Wallace coming aboard, and let me get this straight. We are going to have 6 or 7 QB’s in camp this year. Stoudt, Mackey, Brunetti, greyshirt(Miller), two, maybe three recruited this year CJ, Wallace and maybe Liggins, surely one of them can get some sort of offense this year along with talented RB’s and WR’s we should atleast hit our TD total from last year in the first couple of games.
by Totty Hoddy on Jan 11, 2012 11:04 AM EST up reply actions
I'd expect at least some attrition and/or position changes
if we have 6 or 7 QBs. I highly doubt that many would actually stick around to compete exclusively at that spot.
by TwoYardsandaCloudofEnricky on Jan 11, 2012 11:11 AM EST up reply actions
Yeah,
I expect that, if Liggins commits, he may get the short end of the stick if only because he’s the most athletic out of the bunch. I could see him being a great tight-end, but he may end up being the best QB threat we have.
Maikhail Miller seems like a smaller, not-quite-as-good version of Liggins, so I’d figure as much with him.
I think CJ will redshirt while Wallace, Brunetti and Mackey gun for the starting job. Between Mackey’s disciplinary issues and the fact that he’s a senior, I have to think Wallace and Brunetti have the inside track.

I'd be happy
If we’d just go back to losing by less than 10 points.

I think Auburn could be in there
Losing both coordinators. VanGorder may be a good hire, but not alot of talent or depth on that side of the ball. Still haven’t replaced Malzahn, have they?
Just remember
That very, very few players make a huge impact their feshman year. These guys will probably be really good, but I doubt we see much benefit next year. Also, if you’re feeling wooly remember what our oline is gonna look like in 2012.

If we keep hitting on these JUCO all-american quarterbacks
you’d think one of them will eventually have to pan out, if for no other reason than pure accident.

One good thing I noticed...
he can apparently run. I was worried he had the running ability of Jevon Stoudt, but was surprised to see him able to pull it down and run… and not just scramble for a few yards but actually out run the defense. Very good to see
One concern
He didn’t look off a single receiver in that video. Granted, most passes were quick hitters, but if we’re going to stretch the field, he better work on route progressions.

Was his Dad doing the filming for the EMCC games?
Is there not a single press box in all of Miss junior colleges? Felt like I was watching highlights from a 5th/6th grade game.
Come on now...
We should be happy they even have video technology in Scooba, MS.
One question
Have No. 5 or No. 11 made a college decision yet?
yeah those receivers looked legit as hell
wouldn’t mind picking up one or two of them for sure

Number 11 would be Lacoltan Bester, and he has great potential.
He is six foot three, caught 17 TDs and has 1,000 receiving yards.

#5 is Rodney Davis.
Played in all 12 games. Caught 49 balls, 1007 yds, 11 TDs.
He and Bester were the goto guys for Wallace when he wanted 7 pts.
Yes
According to his 2011 stats, 20.55 yards. Assuming that’s averaged out. 1 reception for 8 yards, another for 30? And so on.
