Mossberg departs as baseball assistant | Ole Miss sports
See ya, Matt. The baseball changes alluded in yesterday's post have begun. We will need to go after a guy who is not only a decent hitting coach, but an adept recruiter. I have no problem thinking that our program is capalbe of attracting such a talent.

Ole Miss Gets Ready for 2012 // SEC 2011 | Team Speed Kills
Objectively, Year2 of TSK looks at the upcoming season, and comes up with some poignant conclusions:

All in all, Ole Miss is probably looking at another rebuilding year. It's hard to imagine the defense getting much worse, but there's only so much ground that you can make up in one season. At the moment, freshman transfer Barry Brunetti is leading the quarterback race. While there is plenty of experience at running back in Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis, starting a freshman behind center is almost always a sign of building for the future. Plus, it will probably take a year to fully feel the effects of having Lee and Brewer around as is generally the case when staff turns over.

Senquez Golson, Mason Robbins among local players expected to be taken in MLB Draft |
As anticipated, none of our big prospects were taken in the first round of the MLB Draft last night. We'll have to watch for Golson, Robbins and others this afternoon, though. If bigger franchises take them in these early rounds, it'd be a real stretch for them to make it to Oxford. We'll keep you updated in the thread from last night.

SEC sends wrong message with grad-exception ban |
Another Houston Nutt rule? Looks like we'll never be able to get another graduate school student to transfer onto our 4-8 bound team. The horror. Way to keep us in check, SEC.

Dan Jones Abstains from MSU Cowbell Fight |
C'mon, Dan. A refresher, last week the SEC's presidents and chancellors voted to give Mississippi State one more year under the cowbell compromise which, if you'll recall, means that we just fine the Bookfarmers every time they grind during unsanctioned grinding periods. Chancellor Jones abstained from the vote. You're already in the doghouse for most Ole Miss partisans, Dan, so why not be a dick to Mississippi State and gain a little favor? Right?
