The weekend pitching match-ups are after the jump. MASSIVE HUGE WEEKEND AGAINST LSU OMG SO IMPORTANT!!!!1111
Ole Miss (18-8, 3-3 SEC) vs. LSU (18-7, 1-5 SEC)
FRIDAY, 7:00 P.M.
LSU - Kurt McCune, Fr., RHP (4-0, 1.56 ERA)
OM - Matt Crouse, Jr., LHP, (6-0, 1.27 ERA)
Crouse is absolutely the rock of this rotation so far. Friday will be one of, if not the toughest, test for him this season. Frosh LSU starter McCune has been equally solid though has bounced around the rotation from Sunday to Saturday to Friday. He hasn't been touched up real good yet, so it may be an opportunity to rattle a young pitcher tonight and get a win.
SATURDAY, 6:30 P.M. - Cox Sports
LSU - Kevin Gausman, Fr., RHP (2-2, 4.41 ERA)
OM - David Goforth, Jr., RHP (0-4, 3.38 ERA)
Goforth has undoubtedly had some bad luck, but he's also not been the model of consistency Crouse has been either. I thought he would have a higher K/9 IP ratio at this point in the season, so he may have to start getting more nasty with hitters if possible. Gausman, another Frosh starter for LSU, has a poor luck 1-0 loss to Florida on his record and was the former Friday starter for the Tigers. In his last outing against Georgia, he went 2 IP and allowed 7 ER. Let's hope that trend continues to get Goforth off his personal slide.
SUNDAY, 1:00 P.M.
LSU - Ben Alsup, Sr., RHP (3-3, 3.07 ERA)
OM - Austin Wright, Jr., LHP (3-2, 3.06 ERA)
Wright has really offered a solid Sunday option for the Rebels this season. He seemed to really find his groove last week against Tennessee hurling 8 shutout innings in his third win of the year. Alsup has had an up and down type of year struggling against lesser foes like Georgia and Princeton while pitching well against top ten powerhouse Cal St. Fullerton. If Sunday is a rubber match, it could be a more unlikely pitching duel instead of the regular slug-it-out affairs of the past years on Sundays.
