Here's a little something to think about

Well as we all know, Hugh Freeze has been hired as the new football coach for the Ole Miss Rebels. After several hours of pointless Wikipedia "Research", I had been overwhelmed by the simliarities between Hugh Freeze and Gus Malzahn. Yes I said it. The one guy who made a nobody staff at Auburn look like heroes when them and Scam Newton won it all last year.

First off, both were put in big positions, despite being "underqualified". Malzahn had NO college coaching experience before being named offensive coordinator at Arkansas for the 2006 season. His only coaching jobs had been at Hughes High School, Shiloh Christian High School, and Springdale High School in Arkansas. For those who havent done their research, Freeze had coached at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis for 12 years, prior to being hired to Coach O's staff here at Ole Miss.

Also, they both followed their big time recruits to coach at the schools they played at. At Springdale, the class of '05 had some of the biggest prospects to come out of Arkansas EVER, including the #1 nationally ranked QB, Mitch Mustain. In addition to Mustain, WR's Damian Williams and Andrew Norman, along with TE Ben Cleveland all went to Arkansas with Malzahn. The next year, Kicker Alex Tejada followed. What was really a head-scratcher about this was that Mustain heavliy favored USC and Williams at one time I beleive verbally committed to Miami. Everybody knows the whole Michael Oher - Hugh Freeze - The Blind Side story, when Freeze went to Ole Miss the same year as Oher.

In no way am I comparing the recruiting or coaching ablilites of Freeze to those of Malzahn, but I found those two things in common. Hell who knows, maybe we have stumbled upon a Gus Malzahn in the making, but I'll wait till after this season to make that claim for sure. Anyways, best of luck to Hugh Freeze and the University of Mississippi as a whole. Hotty toddy!!

Yes, let's wait and see.

I too was a little taken aback by Coach Freeze’s lack of HC experience and Div. I experience. I am hoping he hires some position coaches and coordinators who are familiar with the SEC, since it is a major task just preparing for our overwhelming conference schedule.
