+/- for MVSU Game
In an otherwise unremarkable game, Saturday's game against MVSU marked the season debut of Snoop White, who provided the Rebels with something they've lacked all season - consistent 3 point shooting. While I doubt he puts up 16 points on even a semi-regular basis, if he can knock down a couple of 3s a game, it will help unclog the middle of the 2-3 zone defenses any team with a half a brain will use against us.
White's emergence and the pending arrival of Kendrick (who had a late final and a professor in no big hurry to get grades posted) could spell the end of any meaningful playing time for Aniefiok. I thought before the season it would be great to redshirt him, but with neither Snoop nor Kendrick available, I guess the staff felt like they needed a warm body out there. I don't know how many more meaningful minutes he'll play this year, unless it's an offense defense situation like we used late in the Miami game when Summers had 4 fouls.
Anyway, on to the numbers...
+/- against MVSU (Top 9 Players only)
| Ladarius White | 20 |
| Nick Williams | 18 |
| Reginald Buckner | 17 |
| Jarvis Summers | 17 |
| Terrance Henry | 14 |
| Murphy Holloway | 13 |
| Dundrecous Nelson | 11 |
| Demarco Cox | 9 |
| Aaron Jones | 5 |
No surprises here. White was fantastic, not just scoring but distributing as well. And good things just happen when Nick Williams is on the floor. He's not going to wow anybody, but he's at or near the top of the +/- list after nearly every game. After a while, it's not a coincidence. Reggie was an absolute monster and Terrance made a couple of moves that simultaneously remind you why he's projected as an NBA draft pick and frustrate you to the core that he won't play like that all the damn time.
+/- numbers YTD (Top 10 Players Only)
| Nick Williams | 74 |
| Jarvis Summers | 57 |
| Murphy Holloway | 56 |
| Demarco Cox | 48 |
| Terrance Henry | 41 |
| Dundrecous Nelson | 25 |
| Reginald Buckner | 21 |
| Ladarius White | 20 |
| Aaron Jones | 8 |
| Maurice Aniefiok | -11 |

These posts are great
Nice to see a good debut for White. I still have doubts about our ability to consistently score against zone defenses, but if White can knock down a few threes and Nick Williams, Summers, and Nelson can continue to chip in from the perimeter as well I think we’ll be alright there. Our biggest strength is also our biggest weakness: Holloway, Buckner, Henry, etc. are absolute killers against man-to-man defenses but none of them can consistently score against a zone (and we will be seeing a lot of zone defenses in conference play). I’ll be interested to see how Kendrick fits into the rotation and how AK uses him. We certainly have more talent, lenght, and athleticism than any other point in AK’s tenure.
Breaking a zone defense is the one, single, solitary reason we will NOT see the dance this year.
AK refuses to teach his players how to attack them. Other teams in the SEC know this. Therefore, we will be pulling our fucking hair out by the end of the SEC slate. We are athletic and talented enough to literally play around a poorly executed zone defense a few times this season, which will allow us to get everyones hopes up by beating a few downtrodden, ineffective SEC clubs early. But mark my words, once the competition gets more difficult and SEC teams are playing for their dancing opportunity, this team will get increasingly aggravating to watch because they are NOT being coached on beating a zone defense scheme. We will simply wilt down the stretch in what could have been a decent 2nd or 3rd round run in the big time.

I hate to agree with this,
but I agree with this.
I want this team to be good. I can’t be convinced that they are just yet.

Oh no's!!
We might be good but we’re probably not! God, I hate that attitude. God, I hate people with that attitude. God, I hate myself..

normally, i'd say you're right, but...
to play Devil’s advocate, I believe that was the reasoning behind the cleaning house of the coaching staff. I think Rouco has done a good job getting this team to play together on offense and defense even with the high volume of turnover of players we’ve had.
Time will tell obviously, but if White and Kendrick can provide some much needed outside shooting, I am at least moderately hopeful that we will attack a zone sensibly.
I listen for the voice inside my head... nothin... I'll do this one myself

Unfortunately that seems to be the trend with AFK's teams.
Strong non-con record to get everyone’s hopes up, then a struggle down the stretch and an inability to win the big games towards the end. This team does seem to be more talented than most of his others, but we’ve all seen this movie too many times to not to be cautious. Remember when we started 13-0 and missed the tourny?
That being said, the additions of Snoop and Kendrick could provide us with a mid-season boost that could jump-start us into a strong conference performance. We’ll see…
That was a called play, and I called it Brotha!!! HYYAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
