Ole Miss/UT game cancelled?
Has anyone heard that the Texas game is going to be cancelled? I've heard rumors and a friend of mine in Dallas said UT fans he knows have heard similar rumors.

Anything aside from hearsay?
Even a relevant tweet from someone who would be “in the know” should help.

I had a feeling this series was going to get canceled once Texas A&M came to the SEC.
But I don’t know anything concrete about it.

I haven't heard anything new about this in over a month
but I guess the logical reason to cancel would be to swap UT with A&M after they join our conference. And I think that would be a travesty.
I think the economic impact of having UT travel to Oxford and spend money would be huge. I don’t know any A&M fans. Do they travel well?

I live in Austin and know many TAMU fans. They travel very well. They don’t have the spending power collectively that UT many are very wealthy and will have a positive impact on Oxford. Having both state schools come to Oxford would be great. Plus I want to see the Rebs play in Austin. Nontheless I am excited about seeing Ole Miss every other in Texas.
Though I was excited about playing UT, this is probably a good thing.
In the SEC West, there is absolutely nothing to gain from scheduling hard non-conference teams. None. You already play the toughest schedule in the nation, just fill it in with cupcakes.
That was a called play, and I called it Brotha!!! HYYAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Screw that. I'd rather lose to UT than Jacksonville State.
We only have two half ass decent home games next year and UT is one of those games. Plus, I’ve been looking forward to roadtripping to Austin for the 2013 game ever since it was announced. Is there some rule that we can’t play two different schools from the same state?
I hope this rumor is bullshit.
I'd rather beat Jacksonville State
for a win that goes towards bowl eligibility than finish 5-7 with a 31-10 loss to UT.

The last thing I ever want to see is Ole Miss going back to playing Memphis, Arkansas State, and Tulane every year.

Agree except Tulane.
That Tulane road trip last year was incredible. I’ve never seen so much Red & Blue in NOLA. It was like a defacto bowl trip in the middle of the season. I’d be ok with playing there every damn year frankly.
could not agree more
we should play them every year. that game was to much fun. everyone traveled to NOLA even tho we were coming off the worst loss ever, jville state. Bourbon Street was all rebels and it was glorious. scheduleing a home and away with them for the next 10 years as one of our easyier games would be so great.

I didn't mean I minded playing one of them.
I don’t want that to be the entire Ole Miss nonconference schedule like it used to be. A trip to New Orleans every year really doesn’t excite me unless it’s the Sugar Bowl.

It's not even scheduled to be played in Dallas, is it?
Last I saw it was going to be played in Oxford in 2012 and Austin in 2013.
