My word, this is hard to watch.
The trend of Brassell and Moncrief being our two main receiving threats continued Saturday. Moncrief was targeted 6 times and had 3 catches for 34 yards. Brassell had 7 targets and 4 catches for 32 yards and a touchdown. The third most was actually Collins Moore who had 3 targets and 1 catch for 17 yards. I think he could have had a really big play across the middle on another target, but Mackey had a bad throw.
Overall, Mackey was all over the place and overthrew many WRs. Statistically, it was one of his better completion percentages of the year, 57%, but he overthrew his target any time it seemed like he was trying to wind up and put some zip on the ball.
Ja-mes Logan continues to fall out of the game plan. He had 2 catches for 20 yards on 2 targets, but they came in garbage time. A poster last week said that Logan had slipped into the oval of untrustables, and I’ve heard similar. It seems to be playing out with his diminished role, however, I don’t know why you let him play at all late in the game if he is in trouble.
Jeff Scott had a nice night in the passing game with 2 targets and 2 catches for 26 yards. I would like to see more of this because he is such a big play threat when he gets the ball in space. He had another big reception that was called back on a penalty. Bolden also had one catch on one target out of the backfield – he is also a very good receiving threat.
Our tight ends were a bigger part of the game plan than normal with 3 targets (Mosley -1, Allen – 2) and each hauled in one pass (Mosley – 8 yards, Allen, 12 yards). Neat had one ball thrown his way and it looks like Derrick Herman was less a part of the game plan with zero targets. Of course, we had one target to Mackey which he caught for 5 yards.

Note – my numbers don’t match what Ole Miss has as the official stats, but I double checked Moncrief and Brassell game by game and my numbers are right and total correctly, where as the official stats do not, so I trust my numbers.
