Hell yea! Damn Right!

Now we got our QB depth back with a proven QB. I think Stanley can be great, but this helps a lot.

I'll miss him at Autzen tomorrow

He’s one hell of a QB. Go Rebs! Go Ducks!

Early Christmas

Now lets rally behind Bama so they can get Dareus back for at least the Penn State game. We owe them that much after the support they’ve given us in this matter #freeDareus

Still the NCAA are assholes.

I’m amazed that they are worried about student-athletes graduating early and transfering. Isn’t the whole concern that they graduate in the first place?

If the NCAA and the member schools truly cared about academics they would allow all graduates one transfer sans penalty, regardless of their athletic situation. Worst case scenario ==> kids graduate early!!

by rpmjr on Sep 3, 2010 3:21 PM EDT reply actions

I am likewise playing FDWL at an unreasonable volume.

My extreme happiness at the NCAA’s decision to pull its head out of its ass is slightly tempered by my sudden remembrance that I will watch the Rebs kick off the first game of the season tomorrow without first hearing the sweet notes of the greatest song every played by any college band anywhere. For a few sweet months, I had forgotten. Hotty Toddy anyway!

the fact that they allow one and done's in college basketball lets me know

all I need to about how worried they are about student athletes graduating.

I like it.

I agree

Bama has shown support for the uncuffing of the NCAA’s constraints of the Masoli matter. However, I think it was always more about Dareus getting cleared that Masoli.. they could just associate with us on the matter. Also, oleforty getting cleared for the Tulane game. The only thing that could make this day better is Braswell committing and Jermaine Whitehead figuring out State isn’t where he wants to be.

What goes through my mind everytime I read Masoli is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzLo26ERb7c

except instead of saying “the goalie!” the opposing coach screams “Masoli!”

I don’t know how to create .gifs, but if I did, that is what I would create.

I arrived on campus at Ole Miss in the fall of 2003. Col Reb had just been banned over the summer, so I technically never knew him as my mascot. A student led initiative caused a campus wide vote to keep Col Reb alive. Though the vote passed to keep him on life support, the administration still pulled the plug on him. Though I never knew him, I was there and witnessed Col Reb's Last Breath.

by ColRebsLastBreath on Sep 3, 2010 3:25 PM EDT reply actions

Except for those non-Rebels who actually supported us.

And there were a lot of them, mainly because we’ve all been hit with the “arbitrary capriciousness” of the NCAA at one time or another.

Considering what we just went through with Justin Hunter

I definitely empathized. Regardless of how I felt about the offer in the first place, declaring him ineligible on the Tuesday before kickoff was a dick move.

We lose Masoli and Lockett in the same day, then we get them both back in the same day. I’m gonna have a heart attack if this shit keeps up.

I didnt know much about stanley before.

now I know I have a lot of respect for him and think he is a great leader for our team. He’s been very classy to say the least. He’s said all the right things.

His family too. I love the interview with his mom where she came out exceptionally great.

Just saying her son would compete like any other player, and the best player should play whether it was him or Masoli or Mackey. He is definitely moving up my favorite players list.

HOTTY TODDY GOSH ALMIGHTY

Let’s tee it up boys, time for some football now.

Whether it’s Stanley, Masoli or Mackey, I’m behind the Rebs 100 percent, but this would’ve been a huge injustice to this team and Masoli had it not been reversed today.

If I predict it, there's an 50 percent chance it happens.

Good news

But you have to feel sorry for Nathan Stanley. His emotions are probably fried.

Un-fucking-believable

Hotty Toddy!

The NCAA never ceases to amaze…

I’m so fucking pumped. I was slow to get on board this Masoli thing at first, but justice is served. We’re going to kick way more ass than we we’re going to yesterday.

And for all those who that thought the NCAA’s denial was some sort of indictment against the university, the program, and Masoli for “playing the system” or worse: how does this taste? How does this play into your deformed narrative of “justice” in “amateur” atheltics? It’ll definitely be easier for Clay Travis to excuse his Vols getting dumptrucked in their front yard 11/13.

I was just about to come on here and say something similar.

The fact anyone got an NCAA decision overturned is news, really. But Ole Miss really hasn’t had the greatest luck with the NCAA.

Well, I’ll enjoy the news now and worry about Armageddon later. For now, somebody saw through the BS of the NCAA’s initial decision.

by Wild Rebel on Sep 3, 2010 4:26 PM EDT up reply actions

About time the NCAA gets one right.

They make a rule. Masoli abides by it. Then he is deemed ineligible right before the first game, although he followed the rules of eligibility.

If even the NCAAzis can have a change of heart, maybe the Grinch can actually enjoy Christmas this year. Can’t wait to see the Samoan Rebel whoop Auburn.

Let's just hope this turns out okay.

Everyone’s assuming Masoli will stay out of trouble and/or nothing else will go wrong about this. I’m glad the NCAA’s hypocrisy has been exposed but I still have a nagging feeling something will go wrong and this will all blow up in everyone’s face. This is still Ole Miss we’re talking about.

I don't like this decision

But, as it’s the NCAA’s, I can live with it.

……made a good argument. Congrats. You can’t just change the game on “intent.” He qualifies, or he doesn’t. Who appointed the NCAA as morality judges?
