...on my Facebook account.  Some kid claims to be from Chicago and says he's a Journalism student researching the whole "Mascot Situation" at Ole Miss.

Here's his note:

Hello. I’m a Journalism student in Chicago, and I’m doing a story on the Ole Miss mascot situation. I was hoping to hear what you have to say about Colonel Reb being dismissed from the university. 

How do you feel about the situation?

Do you feel the mascot was insensitive?

Has it affected the tradition at Ole Miss?

Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

I don't know....I'm just always more than a little skeptical about stuff like this.

I doubt I'll answer right away if at all.  I am more inclined to think this is a scam designed by some guys I went to Ole Miss Journalism classes with when I went back to school back in the mid-00's.   There are a couple of guys from back then that love to try and pull my chain about this stuff and politics, etc..., so you can see why I am flattered they would waste time on me and my emotions.

On the other hand, if it's legitimate...why'd he pick me (we can assume among a larger collection of "Col. Reb Fans"), and what makes him think I'd be stupid enough (aside from the fact that many "yankees" think we're ALL stupid enough, regardless the topic/issue) to respond to a blind questionnaire about something a foreign media might exploit as they so often have in the past?
