Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

How the season is going to change

I hate to start by questioning Jeremiah Masoli but is he exactly right for this team.  Dont get me wrong he is a great football player but does he fit our offense.  NO one on the offense to this point has any experience in the spread offense and Masoli has no experience in a pro style offense.  Where do you go though? If Nathan Stanley had an offensive line to block for him he would be the better qb to play.  With the line though you have to have Masoli in there to have escapability.  I also would get Jeff Scott involved more.  He is not proven but he is fast and has big play ability running the ball.  Also why did we throw a pass over 10 yards maybe 3 times we have to throw the ball down the field more because we are actually descent at it when we do it.  Im not out to fire Nutt yet but I do think we made a mistake hiring Radar.  With alll this said I believe the season is about to change the leaders are realizing it is now or never.  We will win a close game against Fresno State this Saturday and the season is going to take off because this team has plenty of talent and it is about to start showing I know we have many doubters now but when the season is over everyone will realize just how right I am.

Yeah except

that’s exactly what we all thought after the JState Game. I know I did. “Well, what have we got to lose, let’s just let it all hang out.”

I really thought the defense found itself in the late part of the fourth quarter against Tulane. It seemed that they might remember that they were Landsharks and stop letting JUCO teams shove them around. And I thought they did a pretty good job against Vandy, but where was the PASSION? Where was the HEART? Its like someone just let the air out of our season and we’re just gonna coast this season out.

This stinks, boys. Let’s get back to what we all know we can be.

Let you in on a little secret.

Rader=Nutt. I doubt Rader has ever made any type of offensive call during a game. Rader is simply a “yes man” for Nutt on offense. We knew that going in though. That is why he is here. That, and to coach the QB’s supposedly. By the way, I hope you’re right about the team picking it up. I mean I REALLY hope you’re right. Otherwise, this year is going to be really embarassing when we actually start playing good teams.

Escapability is the key word...

You’re exactly right, the all around shitiness of our offensive line means we have absolutely no choice but to have a mobile guy like Masoli. Stanley would be getting MURDERED behind that line right now.
On a related note, I’ve been hearing a growing number of people questioning Masoli as our starter. Holding Masoli responsible for our team’s ineptitude seems to be an overly simplistic, “blame it on the QB, because he’s the most notable player” kind of theory. Sure Masoli’s made a few less than stellar throws, but 1) he’s having to run for his life every time he drops back and 2) we knew coming in that he was a run first QB with inconsistent accuracy. Considering the supporting cast around him, I think Masoli has played great. His athleticism was the only reason we had anything that even resembled an offense Saturday. And don’t forget, if his receivers had caught the damn ball, we would be talking about his stellar 3 TD (+1 rushing) performance that led us to a victory.

Masoli will keep Stanley healthy........

because the offensive line wasn’t quite ready. It appears they will be next year. What I would like to see is Tommy West hired on as the offensive coordinator and bring on the spread offense like Memphis had in the day.

We need to make defenses in the sec spread out and HDN’s offensive philosophy doesn’t do that.

Spread out the defenses and you will get the long runs. We saw a little of that against Fresno St., because they respect Massoli.

Let’s see if HDN is ready to throw Massoli to the wolves against the meat of the schedule. He hasn’t asked him to do much so far. I want to see him force Massoli to be the man.
