Rebel Roundup - 8/2/10 - Do the Haka, Y'all, Cause Masoli's In.
Masoli's Going to Be a Rebel | The Wild Samoan's Website
It looks like I am going to be a Rebel!
The University of Mississippi has accepted my application for graduate school and Coach Nutt has invited me to walk on the football team. It will be official when my transcripts and other paperwork is approved.
I am very excited about this opportunity and very thankful Ole Miss is giving me this chance. I really want to thank Coach Nutt for believing in me.
Yes, I have edited my NCAA 2011 roster.
Snead Cut from Tampa Bay | Bucaneers.com
I'm a bit mixed up as to how I should feel about this. Naturally, Schadenfreude kicks in and the "damn you Jevan Snead" side of me comes out. But that's only initially. After a while, I start to feel bad for a guy who, love him or hate him, was a pretty important part of the Rebel football program and the Ole Miss "family" (that sounds corny, doesn't it) for the last few seasons.
Moore Will Play for Ole Miss | Scout.com
We need wide receivers. Darrin Moore of Blinn Community College, the same school which saw now-Auburn Tiger Cameron Newton put up huge numbers in the passing game, will help alleviate that need. At 6'4" and 220 pounds, he's got the necessary size to play a significant role in the SEC and, if anything, he's a warm body with some experience at the collegiate level (he played a very minor role in the UTEP offense his freshman season).
Taylor Hashman Injured
The only source we've got on this right now is Rory McKean's Twitter account, but the story goes that Rebel rising-senior outfielder Taylor Hashman suffered a severe head injury this weekend resulting from a fight off-campus. Keep him in your hearts and minds during his recovery, y'all.

There's a little information here:
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=177&f=2351&t=6170586
Also, a few posts on the NAFOOM board. I don’t know how accurate these posts are, so I won’t cut and paste them here. I sure hope Taylor is OK.
Can anyone copy and paste that article? Fuck having to pay for it.

What's up with Moore? Is he going to play this fall? If so, much needed at WR.
(At 6’4" anyway, providing he can, you know, catch the ball n shit)
Also, should ask this about a different situation, but why is everyone considered a “Rising” senior or sophomore or junior or freshman or red-shirt freshman?
Also, making the rounds via twitter. Vols blog (?) complaining about Masoli to Ole Miss
which is akin to Keith Richards telling kids not to do drugs:

That's hilarious
Vol fans lecturing about criminal players and embarrassments! Hypocrisy at its best.
Maybe...
Snead will get claimed off waivers and get another chance one day like Matt Moore will be getting in Carolina this season.

According to Stewar Mandel from SI
Nutt is the anti-christ.
I’m loving all the hatred pouring in.

Hashman
Hashman was a senior… Either way, that situation makes me physically sick and I feel awful for his family.
Its a career move
Yep, everyone* knows the UFL and AFL are the futures of professional football. Besides, who* wants to play at a field with a silly pirate ship.
Other than everyone in the world.
If you see J.T. Bowtie, tell him to find me in the grove... if he can get in.

Mississippi upgrade
Does Masoli make Ole Miss a favorite in SEC?

Perhaps not favorite but def a more competitive team.I just hope he behaves this time
Ambivalent about Masoli...
but now that it is a done deal, let’s pull for the kid and hope for the best. As a former high school teacher who taught at a school that produced a fair share of very talented football players, (one who went on the NFL and remains very infamous today!), I can tell you that it takes these guys a long time to grow up. Guidance is everything – and it is really hard to know when to give up. The teacher still in me believes that maybe Ole Miss can turn Masoli’s life around – and we sure as hell hope he turns our season around. Having said that – I would like to let Coach Nutt know that I would crawl all the way from my beloved Gulf NORTH to TSUN to personally help Jeremiah stay in line long enough to beat BAMA! HOTTY TODDY! PS – And who wouldn’t rather be a Rebel than a Duck, anyway???
