Deuce
only because he has had more time to represent Ole Miss. Tough bracket.
I hate this poll. Damn you Ivory Tower for making me choose.

I made my pick...
…and then immediately second guessed myself
I can only hope that Dex wins by 1
and the_drake logs on one day too late to ruin Dexter’s sweet victory.

Deuce by only a slim margin..
Dex’s last year was awesome, but not enough to remove Deuce for me.
Can’t believe as of 2:35 am it’s actually tied at 142 votes a piece.

It's not a question
I know Dex is awesome. He had a great year and a pretty good career at Ole Miss. He seems to be a great young man and it appears he will be a great ambassador for Ole Miss going forward. You can’t let all of that and one fantastic year cloud your judgment though – especially as it is more recent than Deuce’s career and is a bit more fresh in your mind. Hell, some of the folks voting on this thing weren’t even Ole Miss fans when Deuce was around, so how can they be expected to make a fair vote. A lot of people in Dex’s favor also seem to always play the what if cards about injury and playing time. I don’t want to hear that. Deuce was hurt a ton his Sr. year and he didn’t play a lot his freshman year. Don’t get me wrong – I love Dex – but this thing is not really debatable.
Deuce is the only player in the history of Ole Miss to record three seasons with at least 1,000 all-purpose yards. He finished his career with records for carries (616), yards (3,060), rushing TDs (36), total touchdowns (41) points (246) and 100-yard games.
Deuce is the best running back to ever play at Ole Miss. PERIOD. and one of the top 5 players in the history of the program.
But compare Deuce's best year to Dexter's best year.
For Deuce, I guess, it’s his junior year. For Dexter it’s his senior year. Both of them carried their team in those years. And Dexter carried his farther. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better four-game stretch in the history of Ole Miss football than Dexter’s performances against Ark, Aub., UT, and LSU in 2009 (sat out NAU game).
Deuce may be the best running back, but the Dexter is the best WR ever to break Deuce’s rushing records.

You're making my arguement though
Like I said, the dex folks play the "what if" game and pick moments, games, stretches, etc. to make their argument. You could probably play that game with almost every legendary athlete that’s ever played a sport.
As little as Deuce played as a freshman he still had impact (400 yards and 4TDs), he was hurt for a few games every year – playing hurt in many – and he still delivered in just about every game he made an appearance in. You can’t say that for Dex. With Deuce it’s not just a stretch, a game or even a season. It’s a career and I’ll take Deuce’s career over Dex any day of the week.
But let’s play your single season game. Deuce’s Junior year he had 930 rushing yards, 256 Rec and 1931 all purpose yards (175 a game) – 200 or so more than Dex’s AP yards in 2009. He also had 15 TDs to Dex’s 11. He also did it with 2 less games played while sharing time with a back that had 978 yards rushing and 5 TDs. Dex carried the team in 2009 – true. But, I would argue that he had a better team and a better coach. By the way, Dex didn’t break any of Deuce’s records. He broke the single game rushing record – which wasn’t deuces. Deuce’s records all still stand for the most part.
What it comes down to for me is who would I rather want on my team
Deuce could hit the homerun – Cutcliffe called him the fastest football player he had ever seen, he could get the hard 2 yards and move the pile. And after he did that you could put him back there as a returner and he would take it to the house. Nobody was worried that we might hurt Deuce if we played him too much. I won’t question Dex’s heart. I know he would be out there on every play if they let him, but they didn’t. Nobody kept Deuce off the field unless he physically could not play and that is a pretty big difference if you ask me. As versatile as Dex is, Deuce is more versatile. You could use him in pretty much any situation the offense/special teams were in and you could use him more often. If I were picking for one game, I might lean to Dex – but it would be a tough decision and the situation – weather, opponent – could easily swing it in favor of Deuce. If I were starting a team today for a four year run, I would pick Deuce – No doubt about it.
Your AP yards include Deuce and his kick returns.
Pretty sure Deuce’s junior year set a record for total yards (just rush and rec.) which Dexter broke. That’s the record of which I speak. Also UT broke Deuce’s single game total yards record. So I’m pretty sure I’m not making your point for you.
The thing that really makes me love DMC part II
is that Dexter meant more to the 09 team than Deuce meant to the 99 team. We don’t beat UT, LSU, or Arkansas without Dex. Lose even two of those and we aren’t bowl eligible. Without Deuce, we probably still have a fighting chance at going to the Independence Bowl in 99.

Of course they include his Kick returns
that’s what All Purpose Yards are. Deuce was able to perform well as a kick returner, so why not include those stats. It just helps validate part of my argument about why he is more valuable than Dex over a four year career against SEC teams.
Even if Dex broke one of his records, that is not what I was saying was making my point. It was the fact that Dex supporters usually just look at 4-5 games and then play the what if game about the rest. He was incredible for 4-5 games, but the bulk of the career is not there and you just can’t play the what if game and come to some reasonable conclusion on this. You can play the what if game until the cows come home about both of these guys (WAOM). Deuce still has career records for rushing TDs, Rushing Yards, total TDs and has those three season with over 1000 AP yards. He had 1400 AP yards and 10 TDs in his Sophomore season.
Also, you can’t discount the negatives from each of them. They both were injury pron, so that’s a wash. With Dex, you just can’t look past his Jr. year. If he doesn’t fumble the ball as much, then we might have a couple of more wins (one for sure at Vandy) and a BCS game. His fumbling was a MAJOR issue then, so if you are going to argue that he carried us forward in 09 then you have to consider the damage he did in 08 (not that he didn’t help us win games in 08 too) as part of the thought process. I would say that Deuce never had lower lows than Dex in 08 with his fumbling issues.
Deuce gave us a better career. Like I said earlier, if I were picking one of them today for a four year stretch against SEC teams, I would go with Deuce. He was fast as hell, could pound it up the middle, leap over tall buildings, and return kicks. He was a TD machine for us. He could do it all and coaches were not afraid to utilize him that way. Dex just does not give you that.
Really, I just wish we could have both of them back this year – on the same team. Can we at least agree on that?

163 to 158 Dexter's way
I think that’s the biggest lead of the poll. I’m going to be checking regularly between now and Saturday.

When Dex gives 1 million out of his own pocket (like Deuce did)
I still won’t give him a vote. Deuce was much bigger in his time than Dex.
