Rebel Roundup - 5/4/10 - May the Fourth Be With You (LULZ!)

"You listen to me when I talk to you. And you know why? Because I'm Billy damned Chadwick, that's why." via www.itatennis.com

Men's Tennis Inks One Of World's Top Juniors | OleMissSports.com
Nikala Scholtz of Caledon, South Africa, the top junior in South Africa and a one-time top-25 worldwide junior player (peaked at #22, apparently) has just signed with the Rebels. When considering the fact that only one player off of this team will graduate, and that he will likely be replaced by an already accomplished netter, I think we can all but claim our 10th straight SEC Western title. Ole Miss Tennis: we don't rebuild, we reload.

Huber Named SEC Pitcher Of The Week | OleMissSports.com
Brett Huber, a righty freshman reliever, was named SEC Pitcher of the Week for his excellent work in relief this week. Huber, through a pair of saves, helped lead the TSUNamis to a sweep over the 'Humperz. Congratulations, Brett. Keep yourself loose and ready for the Hogs this weekend, will ya?

Ole Miss completes first 3-game series sweep at MSU since ’72 | The Clarion-Ledger
Just a fun fact. Oh, and if you wanna see the BEST BASEBALL THE MAGNOLIA STATE HAS TO OFFER, you should head to Pearl tomorrow night to watch Southern Miss and State battle it out for diamond supremacy in the "we both got our asses pounded by Ole Miss cup."

Jevan Snead, Donovan Warren took a risk leaving school early for NFL draft | Orlando Sentinel
Hell, it's hard to say it wouldn't been as risky for Jevan to have stayed in Oxford with how confident the coaching staff seems to be in Nathan Stanley. Best of luck, Jevan. You'll need it but, I won't lie, I want you to do well in your professional career.

Yeah, It's Way Too Early But What The Heck - A Look at the 2010 SEC | Roll 'Bama Roll
Kleph, a dastardly rapscallion over at Roll Bama Roll, has compiled an index of sorts of way-too-early 2010 SEC football talk--if there ever were such a thing. Of course, his Crimson Tide are atop just about everybody's list.

Who's graduating from the tennis team?

He just wanted to use his "reload" line

and let’s face it, few would have known he was wrong.

Well, he probably could have come up with something better...

given that someone playing on courts 5-6 this year will not be playing much next year. And, if Kalle makes it back to his form before injury, every single player on our team could see competition that is subsantially weaker than what they saw this year. Hell, we could be at a point next year where five of our netters are fiercely competing for a spot on court 5 or 6.

And the best thing about it is…this season ain’t over yet. I hope we get to host, though unlikely.

than last year when everyone decided to anoint you SEC West champs in July.

Rec'd

Just for the “reload” line.

There's a darkness on the edge of town.

Nikala Scholtz might play #1 singles for us next year.

Comparatively, this guy is a bigger deal than any basketball prospect we’ve signed (in the era of big time recruiting) and bigger than any football prospect we have signed with the exception of Eli.
