Apparently a bit of a mini-meme is budding on LSU sites (ATVS for one, Tiger Droppings for another) criticizing our Rebels for "dogpiling" after Kevin Mort's walk-off single to secure last weekend's sweep over the Tigers.

Nevermind for a moment what such an action would suggest about the state of LSU's program as the reigning College World Series title holders and perhaps the most dominant program of all time. Nevermind the obvious importance of the game to a ballclub fighting to be in the mix for the SEC West crown. Nevermind what this game means for the fans or the players.

Do mind, however, the video.

Is that a dogpile? No. It's a celebration for a walk-off hit. Mort (or somebody) obviously fell and obviously knocked a few folks down which, in turn, obviously hurt Matt Snyder's porcelain soulders (which becomes even more obvious once you see how still and lifeless the celebration becomes after the tumble).

To cement my point, I Google Image searched "Walk Off Home Run"--yes, Mort hit a single, I know. I then did the same for "Baseball Dogpile".
Now, tell me, which one of those were our Rebels engaging in?

For a school with, what, seven College World Series titles, you'd think they'd be able to tell the fucking difference between a walkoff celebration and a dogpile. Every bit of this ado they're raising reeks of bitterness and the (as PodKATT put it) sinking feeling one gets when things don't turn out as one had expected.

To be honest...

… I’ve avoided calling it a dogpile for that very reason. I think Ole Miss was celebrating a dramatic walkoff hit to sweep the defending national champs. It absolutely and totally sucked to watch. Y’all deserve all the plaudits for the sweep and can celebrate however the hell you want.

Did I mention we were the defending national champs? Thanks for the extra title, but we’ve only won six of them. I know there are so many of them it’s hard to keep track…

But, yeah, you're welcome.

And, while a sweep, all of the games were super close. Hoover should be as fun as ever this year.

"You're welcome"

Thanks. I do view the celebration as a compliment. No one gets jacked for beating Tennessee. We’re good. You’re good, too. You swept us. You celebrated like it was a big deal because we’re good. That, at the end of the day, is a compliment to LSU. Obviously people think beating LSU means something, even good teams.

I’d much rather live in a world where beating LSU means something. Remember when we used to care about Mississippi State?

We get to not care about Mississippi State this weekend.

Sort of. But I guarantee the only dogpiles will be the kind you step in.

sore frikkin losers

Just like the e-turds of Alabama. They have never lost anything gracefully, both are a bunch of sore frikkin’ losers. They get swept for the first time in a couple of years by a team who needed to win all three to get back in the mix and they want to accuse us of over celebration.

When in fact we were just being Ole Miss and falling down again.

Maybe if these two schools didn’t win against the Rebels so often in baseball and football we wouldn’t get so damn excited.

-1

I didn’t read this, but I’m -1ing it. BTW, is that the proper verb form of -1?

The obligatory accusations of chicanery

are reserved (mostly) for events in which Alabama and the adjunct of its Dept of Athletics, the SEC League Office, are involved.

On a related note...

… the SEC league office has just awarded the series sweep to Alabama.

Probably just bundled it

with the sweep they are even now plotting to award Bama May 14-16. How else to get the home team to Hoover?

J'accuse!

Ferguson’s spring-loaded shoes CLEARLY affected the outcome of the series.

I still can't find a fucking replay of Fergie's leap.

Damn me for getting too drunk to leave the Square Saturday. I’m really pissed I missed the first two games.

Posting the same thing I posted on ATVS. Dogpiles last more than 2 seconds.

feel free to check it out then. like I said. It lasted about 2 seconds, a few players went down. 2 seconds later they were all back on their feet high fiving. More than anything I think they mauled Kevin Mort after the game winning hit.

Thanks for bringing this up.

This stupid “dogpile” shit has been getting on my nerves the last two days. Richard Cross didn’t help matters by calling it such on the TV broadcast.
