Great Class

The best part about this is that they will qualify, unlike our cajun shrimper classes

by ColRebsLastBreath on Feb 3, 2010 11:50 AM EST reply actions

This class is excellent.

Of course, there will still be a few non-qualifiers, but those defensive linemen look incredible on paper.

So where do we end up in the rankings?

We’re 15th/17th atm?

Of course we’re only middle of the pack in the SEC, but very happy with this class atm

What about Mike Thomas?

Why hasnt he signed a letter of intent yet?

by UMReb on Feb 3, 2010 12:18 PM EST reply actions

He's walking on

until January of 2011. That means he won’t count until next year’s class. Much like Andrew Ritter did this year.

Class

This class is pretty decent. Nothing to be down on. Very Defensively heavy. Am a bit downhearted that we couldn’t land a few more o-line guys. Other than that I am quite pleased. However, the hiring of our new co-OC kind of took some of my enthusiasm for the new year away.

by ProphetMB on Feb 3, 2010 12:41 PM EST reply actions

We have a couple OL that don't show up..

Matt Hall (xfer from Arkansas)
AJ Hawkins (not sure)
and Mike Thomas (Walkon maybe?)

by Thile on Feb 3, 2010 12:45 PM EST up reply actions

Hall

Hall won’t play til 1possibly 2 yrs.
Thomas is supposedly going to be a walk on.

We are just so thin…We lose the entire inner line this year. Unless Geralds is smiled upon by the NCAA lords with an extra yr.

by ProphetMB on Feb 3, 2010 2:19 PM EST up reply actions

Motherfucker.

BrandtThe Enemy just said we ain’ gettin’ Geralds back next year.

My pappy always said "the wounded dog cries loudest."

Consistently therewith I’ve read a whole lot of “41-27” over at the Clarion-Ledger.

Hogville is fun.

A plea to not worry about Bobby Petrino’s low-rated class:

Seriously. We return everybody. This class will/should not be loaded.

Should not be loaded. Because retention is high for 2010, there is some advantage to not recruiting talented players in that year.

I think the best part about Hogville...

is all the Ole Miss fans who get on there, pretending to be Hog fans. Seriously. They slip up, break character, and use the words “our” and “we” a few too many times when referring to Ole Miss.
But yeah, it’s a warzone over there. Some people think the class is bad, others think the class will be better on the field than it is on paper, and some people are just more upset that OM’s class is ranked higher.

DAMN IT TO HELL!!! I WAS going to say something nice about LSU... but my clock ran out like theirs did against Ole Miss and Penn State. Dumb coonasses. I bet if they tied corndogs to the clock, they'd keep a better eye on it. heh.

can one of you...

Explain “sign and place”? If they go to a JUCO, is there an obligation to go the school two years latter?

by astaylo1 on Feb 3, 2010 1:52 PM EST via mobile reply actions

latter?

No, I guess not.

Thanks for being soulless. And astaylo1, thanks for endangering others on the road.

Slightly unrelated...

but close to my heart. UNM (1-11 last season) just signed Calvin Smith, former UT committment with offers from Alabama , Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, and UCF.

Is there something wrong with this kid?

Sure hated to lose out on

Shon Coleman, to Auburn. Never good when you lose out on an Olive Branch kid to.. Auburn.

OB

It seems harder & harder for us to land OB boys

by ProphetMB on Feb 3, 2010 2:26 PM EST up reply actions

Not totally true

We will never land an Olive Branch prospect that AU or Bama want, so long as Samsel is there. We probably could have had Robinson if we wanted, but only because AU and Bama weren’t asking Samsel for his signature.

by Charles2006 on Feb 3, 2010 2:50 PM EST up reply actions

So this may be ridiculously early but

who do you think will win the QB spot? A mobile guy to make the most of the inexperienced O line or a statue and pray for the best? Like I said, early. But looking at the O line signatures brought the thought to the forefront.

by RebSawTheLight on Feb 3, 2010 3:26 PM EST reply actions

Why unpopular?

he is the best option in my opinion. He just needs reps, reps, reps & PT

by rebpup on Feb 3, 2010 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

Everyone

wants Cotton to be the guy. From what little I have heard, he hasn’t spent time with the playbook, since he ran the scout team last year.

by Juco All-American on Feb 3, 2010 4:30 PM EST up reply actions

That would be my opinion

You don’t generally walk off the scout team into the no 1 slot unless you are able to learn & execute the playbook during the off season. Not very likely, unless he is just gonna hand off to En-Ricky & Bolden.

We will see

by rebpup on Feb 3, 2010 4:42 PM EST up reply actions

I think it is too early to tell.....

Don Decker has to be in full stride right now with our OL. They need to get better and they can get better. Sure they are young but they also “have room to grow.” So answer to your question it is based of our OL. If they take this spring off then we will need a mobile qb to run for his life. I do not think that will be the case and the coaches won’t let that be an option. Everyone on the OL can get better and I hope we see them hit full stride next year. If they do that will put Stanley into the race.
