Hatred of State?

So “meh”. Don’t give them the pleasure.

by OxfordAndrew on Feb 3, 2010 11:19 AM EST up reply actions

The worst thing you can do to them

is act like OM fans just don’t care about State. If they bring up beating us in football last year say, “yeah, you guys outplayed us – I’m just glad we beat our rivals and made it to a decent bowl game”. Being hated is far better than being utterly inconsequential.

by One Man To Beat on Feb 3, 2010 11:12 AM EST up reply actions

Just to summarize what's gone on so far

Ole Miss has picked up 21 signees by our count so far. This includes 5 DB’s, 4 OL and some big in-state signees like Carlos Thompson, Bryon Bennett, Vincent Sanders and Carlton Martin

If I predict it, there's an 50 percent chance it happens.

by One Man To Beat on Feb 3, 2010 11:11 AM EST reply actions

That's what we're hearing

Parker does have some academic questions out there and Denny is most likely a preferred walk-on candidate

If I predict it, there's an 50 percent chance it happens.

by One Man To Beat on Feb 3, 2010 11:13 AM EST up reply actions

Why is Andrew Ritter up there?

The Great White Hope is already here. Are we putting him on scholarship?

Yes.

He counts towards the 22 since he will be placed on scholarship without having been a walk-on for a full two years.

That sucks.

Not that he doesn’t deserve it. I just figured he didn’t need it.

If I predict it, there's an 50 percent chance it happens.

by One Man To Beat on Feb 3, 2010 11:15 AM EST reply actions

Ok.

We have officially signed 16 players.

Apparently, Delvin Jones, Ralph Williams, Vincent Sanders, Carlton Martin, and Bryon Bennett have also announced for us but have not yet sent in their paperwork. That brings us to 21.

Factor in the two junior college players, Wayne Dorsey and Damien Jackson, who signed with us in December, and we’re at 23.

Four players who signed in the last class were grayshirted or walked on but will be receiving scholarships in this class. Ritter, Whigam, Marry, Swindall. That’s 27.

Now we’re waiting on Jeff Scott to finish it off at 28.

Remember, Mike Thomas is walking on and will not sign today. Also remember that only 22 of our 28 signees can join the football team in the fall. That means that some will be placed and others will grayshirt.

Probably true

Ty is probably being accurate and responsible in his journalism and waiting patiently by the fax machine.

What State fans are saying

The common message is, “We’re recruiting more players inside the state.” Not really talking about the quality they are getting however.

“These recruiting sites can’t get out to everyone so our 0 and 1 star guys could be just as good as any on TSUN.”

Yeah, maybe, these recruiting sites haven’t been around very long…only about a decade. They probably have very little fucking idea what they’re doing.

If I predict it, there's an 50 percent chance it happens.

by One Man To Beat on Feb 3, 2010 12:41 PM EST reply actions

They don't "get to" everyone in the state because

not everyone in the state is worth the effort to get to. I know that diamonds in the rough exist, but if a guy is a 0 or a 1 star, chances are that he sucks ass at football.

by The Ghost of Jay Cutler on Feb 3, 2010 12:45 PM EST up reply actions

Keep recruiting those one stars in MS.......

It must suck not being able to recruit the state of Florida when your head coach came from Florida. Then again it must suck to go to State so maybe they are used to it. Hotty Toddy!

by Newport Rebel on Feb 3, 2010 1:07 PM EST up reply actions

No, Newport,

Dan the Man doesn’t recruit Florida as a courtesy to Urban Meyer. That’s the sort of class and character he has. At Mississippi State he’s doing things “the right way.” And that good karma is going to translate into football success.

Just wait.

Wow I wish we had a coach that does things the "right way"......

All I hear out of Hogville is that Houston Nutt “is the devil.” All joking aside I think our Florida recruits this year are pretty damn good and add deapth to some major need areas. Scout has us as the #13 class in the nation as of right now. Not bad even without 2 schollys.

by Newport Rebel on Feb 3, 2010 1:25 PM EST up reply actions

well...if "the right way" is not recruiting the state you left...

Houston seems to be doing it. We don’t really get that many Arkansans, do we? Or are even listed as interested by Arkansans?

Y’know, aside from Tyler Campbell?
