Heading into the final two weeks of most teams' regular season, a clear Top Five has emerged in both major polls, and, I suspect, the Blogpoll. In recent weeks, work life has kept me from working the poll, much less other blog duties. For the next two weeks, at least, I am in blog-plosion mode, but my poll ballots will be a great deal more subjective/conventional. We'll say that I have been too consumed with the only two hate weeks that, for me, are really legitimate.
This week's ballot is brought to you by blind rage.
I hope you find it satisfactory, nevertheless.
3. Boise State
I expect little disagreement exists regarding the Top Five.
6. Michigan State
10. Ohio State
After its eighty-point win over the weekend, Wisconsin looks like the best team in the Big Ten, but then I remembered that Sparty beat Wisconsin. Head-to-head means something, which is why Ohio has to be behind Wisconsin. To boot, Stanford and Nebraska have more wins over Top 25 teams than does Ohio State.
11. Oklahoma State
The Cowpokes handed Texas its jeepers-inducing sixth loss in Austin. Alabama has losses to almost-certain New Year's Day bowl teams (of course, so does Arkansas). Missouri grabbed a win over a ranked Kansas State team and has the head-to-head win over Oklahoma.
16. Virginia Tech
18. So. Car
With a trip to Miami next, Virginia Tech may actually earn its lofty sixteenth ranking. Nevada squeaked out a thrilling win over a Fresno State team we know well. South Carolina is your SEC East Champion. And, of course, the other USC beat Arizona on the road.
Speaking of Arizona, they have looked pretty good. Looking forward to hosting Arkansas, Mississippi State might find itself unranked next week. And Utah is ranked, but I'm not sure why.
