It's a ripoff of Oregon's continuous "O" chant,

which is probably a good thing. Autzen has an awesome homefield advantage so I’m alright with doing whatever it is that they do.

And no. I don’t think it’s a rip off of Oregon’s chant. It’s the easiest way to make the stadium loud, and every single school does it…. including us at times.

Turns out that we're not very good at football.

Huh?

I’ve literally heard this done on every third down at every college game I’ve been to. As Juco said, we already do it on occasion. I’ve never thought “oh, this is really Oregon’s thing.” Until you mentioned it in this post, I’d never heard it was linked to Oregon any more so than any other school that does it.

I guess you could argue that since their school name begins with “O” then they have some sort of ownership, but Ohio State, Oklahoma, etc.don’t claim it as “their” thing either.

It's not just a third down thing with them.

They do it on every down. It’s constant. They even do it on kickoffs, with errybody in the stands making the “O” hand sign screaming it.

So? We'll blame it on Jeremiah.

Just like the “Love Is Gone” bit was done at Miami; some of our players went to a baseball camp and players from “Da U” taught them the dance.

I think y'all are totally misunderstanding me.

I’m not anti “Yell O” at all. I was just pointing out the Oregon roots.

No, no...I understand.

I think some of us may be a little sensitive over the whole idea of old traditions, new traditions, borrowed traditions (people think we stole “Rammer Jammer” from Alabama and made it “Hotty Toddy”; others believe the opposite). I say there’s nothing new under the moon. Sure, folks can say Miami did David Guetta first. So? Why should Da U have all the fun? I LIKE “Love Is Gone.” And I like this.

It is the opposite. Check the wiki page.

Which Wiki?

Confused…are we talking about “Love Is Gone” or “Rammer Jammer/Hotty Toddy?”

Rammer Jammer and Hotty Toddy.

It’s written on one of the pages about Alabama’s traditions in the section on Rammer Jammer. Or at least, it used to be. I’ve seen it claimed by at least one Alabama fan who admitted Rammer Jammer is a ripoff of Hotty Toddy. I don’t know how many other Bama fans would go with that. But the evidence seems to point to Bama stealing it from Ole Miss not the other way around.

It came from some band director at Bama who’d previously been at Ole Miss who brought the general tone of the chant with him, but changed the words to suit Alabama better.

Okay, just asking because

blushes I spent 20 minutes Googling combos of “Love Is Gone,” “David Guetta,” “Miami baseball,” and various other search terms.

And the big deal is....?

I feel safe in saying that 90% of football ‘cheers’ are in some way modified/ripped off from someone else’[s ‘cheers’.

Just another "good for nothing law school grad".
