Tuesday Question
Generally, we are the "authors" of "content" around here - "here" being a blog and not a message board. Recognize, we do, that you've come here not to contribute, but to consume. Nevertheless, there is the sporadic occasion where, either for our benefit or for to exercise the thinkifiers of the masses, we ask you a question. Today's question is ...
Bobbie Massie or Tig Barksdale: Who makes his impact earlier and who makes his impact greater?
Bobbie Massie comes to Ole Miss out of the clutches of Slick Nick - despite fanciful promises of luxurious chances of real playing time at Right Tackle as early as his sophomore year - while Barksdale, who will not, it seems, be used as the next darrenmcfaddenfelixjones but, rather, as the next Jamar Hornsby, comes by way of defending national JUCO champion Butler Community College the editing feature JUCO and Ghost obviously don't know how to use Ivory's ignorance his mom's house in Batesville hopefully not wherever Chris Strong went to get real fat Hargrave.
Both are freakishly talented and built. Both come to Ole Miss at a time when the Rebels are somewhat short at their designated position. Both are reportedly eligible. So, of all the Rebels' newcomers, these seem to be most likely to make a big impact quickly. Answer the question or offer your thoughts about contributions by newcomers.

Tig Barksdale
Did not go to Butler CC, but I’ll play along.
Bobby/Bobbie Massie. He’ll be a backup this year who sees time and will start at RT next fall.
Tig Barksdale will see time on special teams this season before taking over for Kendrick Lewis next fall.
I would guess that Barksdale is the more celebrated of the two, but Massie is much more essential at a time that we have so few offensive linemen on campus.

I think we'll see them both situationally,
but neither will be a starter.
And, to echo Juco, Butler CC? Tig went to Hargrave lawya. Pull your goofy face out of them damn law books and maybe you’d learn a thing or two.

"hopefully not wherever Chris Strong went to get real fat "
That made me chuckle. Kudos.
Also, the correct answer is Bobbie. You wanna talk about a “great impact?” Da Monsta will knock the back end out of it.
I think we will see Tig alot this year
Especially when we play a passing team (Memphis, Arkansas, MS State, South Carolina and whatever UT and Auburn is now). I can see him being the extra DB on the field, meaning that this year he will have the impact earlier. The Monsta however probably won’t see the field as much, so the early impact goes to Tig.
Completely agree with everyone else because long term, the P-Monsta will be dominating on the line, while Tig will be good, but not great in the secondary. Therefore, Massie will have the bigger impact

I think we’ll see Tig play more this year and, thusly, have a larger impact in year one. I think over the next several season, though, I think Massie will have the greater impact and his development will be critical to the success of Ray Cotton and Nathan Stanley.
All of this is moot, though. Z Mason, the Duke of Smashing Box And Dominating Opponents, will end up the greatest player in any sport ever.
Pig Pen this here's Rubber Duck, and I'm about to put the hammer down.
Both will contribute
I think Tig will probably get a lot of playing time this year. Bobbie might to if Bradley Sowell doesn’t work out.
What’s the word on Pat Patterson?
Patterson is on campus.
He enrolled in the 2nd summer session and has been working out with the team. Snead has even commented to members of the media on Patterson’s ability. He’s legit, hence the recruiting battle necessary to reel him into Oxford.

My Question...
Any chance either Sowell or Massie move to guard? I know its a little out there, but it would give us a massive line and get them both PT.
Nope.
Tackles, both of ’em.

I think both will be noticable contributors to the team...
I see Tig flying in for some brutal special teams tackling throughout the year. As for PMsta, we always have an offensive lineman who gets banged up…I think we’ll plug him in wherever there’s a hole(other than for daverin of course); hell, on goal line situations, imagine putting him at LT and then having sowell back as a second TE; it would be like the Terrence Cody goaline situation for bama; Tig’s gonna be a sick sick safety; i’m just glad we don’t need him every play this year.

And for the sake of maintaining continuity in the
“late in the evening semi-drunk responses to reader comments” department, I agree, Porcelain Receiver.

Anybody wanna change their pick?
I think I’ll go with Massie.
