Oxford Super Regional 2009: The Return of the Bittler

Bittlehope_medium

He's Back.......

Star-divide

The Rebels will take the field at 1 p.m. on Friday against the Virginia Cavaliers.  The game will be televised by ESPN 2, but you better get your butts to Oxford.  I will probably have to skip class on Friday, but I will be there!

A Friend and Frequent Reader of the Cup has informed me that The Bittler will be on the 25 man roster for the coming weekend.  That should solve the weekend woes that we experienced against Westery Kentucky on Sunday.

All I know about Virginia as of now is they bat .331 as a team and have a superb ERA at 3.19.  They're really good.  But, what do you expect out of a Sweet 16 team?

If you would like to see the tourney bracket with tv info, you can click here.

As a side note, many thought FSU and Ole Miss should have been National Seeds.  All of that is irrelevant now as both are hosting supers.  Check out the Cup this week as we will preview the Cavaliers.  Hotty Toddy!

ED: Hi, I'm Brian Walker's Elbow.  I don't know how to center-align images nor do I know what year it is.

If I see Drew Pomeranz at the bar...

His liquor’s on me.

As long as it’s not Thursday night.

I have it on good authority that

the trainers were rubbing Drew’s shoulder with Evan Williams during the game to keep him fresh.

Pig Pen this here's Rubber Duck, and I'm about to put the hammer down.

Rotation?

If Bittle is on the roster can he start? Or would he have to come in out of the pen?
I say make him the Sunday starter and bring in Buck and staff to relieve at the first hint of discomfort.
My staff would be:

Friday: Irwin (obviously because Pom needs the rest)
Saturday: Pom
Sunday: Bittle/Buck/McKean/Goforth

I think that...

Bittle is returning in a closer/relief role.

that's right

i don’t think he’ll get more than an inning or two of relief work… i wouldn’t expect to see him start again- for anyone ever again. his arm doesn’t have the strength or power that pomeranz’s does (although i’m not sure any human has the kind of strength he played with last night!)

Anybody else notice that someone posted the Brian Walker video on their chat room. Awesome.

Why...

Does the title of this post say Oxford Super Regional 2010? Did I skip through time a year? :P

2 days rest

The hell with resting Pom. I say, make him pitch and intersquad game Wednesday and then start him Friday. Keep the 2 day rest luck going………………….

On a serious note, if Bittle throws one inning pain free that would be a huge confidence boost going into Omaha.

Ummm.....Hotty Toddy.
