The Ghost avenged (ironically)
The Ghost of Jay Cutler whined like a sissy girl that no one was in Hoover and that I was spending time with my Yankee Fiancee instead of Mike Bianco. Well, it looks like it paid off as I'll be headed to a lake house on Lake Michigan tomorrow and the Rebels are sent home after taking a serious butwhipping at the hands of Florida. Interestingly enough, Buk has been involved in three mercy rule games during his career at Ole Miss. In 2006, he was the winning pitcher in a rout of LSU. In 2007, he was part of a losing effort against Vanderbilt in which we were mercy ruled. In 2008, Buk paved the way for yet another run-rule event. Great career, Buk.
Anyway, the Rebs were sent packing. The next step? The regional host sites will be announced Sunday at 2:30 p.m.. On Monday at 11:30 a.m., the seeding for the tourney will be announced.
As for Scott Bittle, my sources say he is done for the year.
As for Rory McKean, he did poorly in the only class he was taking this semester, and he is working on May-session to get his grades up.
As for Bianco, the question remains......

I know that there is more baseball to play and anything could happen. But I still ask, is there an off ramp to Omaha for the Rebels? Baseball has become like a Gilligan’s Island episode, everything looks great right up to that pivotal moment and then-boom-there’s no escape.
Borrowing the predominant Presidential catch phrase, let me be clear, its awesome to have winning seasons, championships (whether shared or not), and players sought after by Pros. All of that is great. Also, coming from college days when baseball was played on the field about where the Turner Center sits these days, the improvements in the program are astonishing. However, there’s just that one thing more that the Rebs need to do, and that’s go through the NCAA tourney like a run over dog and descend on Omaha.
I look forward to the escape episode.
