New 12th Game Rumor

TCU, Indiana, UVA, Colorado, Gardner-Webb, and the Mississippi School for the Deaf and Blind have all surfaced as possible candidates as opponents for our still-available 12th game.  Would you like to know what the latest rumor is?

Star-divide

According to the Idaho Statesman, we may play The Boise State Broncos.

I have no idea how valid this rumor may be but, hell, it'd be an interesting game to say the least.

Eh...

If this is true, that will be good. It will be nice to have a “big” name team and nice to have a 12th game at all.

Still, there’s a part of me that sees this with that pessimistic approach we all had to the last three years. I don’t want to play a team that is known as a BCS buster.

At least they Oregon at home the week before

Two top 15 teams in two weeks, plus it’s Nutt’s former school. It could be a win that boosts way up and if we lose, it doesn’t hurt us in SEC.

Exciting game

Should be a lock for ESPN assuming it’s not on that ridculous field up at their place. I can’t watch when they play on that smurf turf. I guess it would have to be home and home for them to agree to it which really sets up for a nice road trip for both teams to go to a state they could not care less about.

Home Game

I think we should play at home first. We know what happened the last time we scheduled a foreign team from out west. For those of us who have already forgotten, we traveled to Wyoming to play at 7k feet above sea level and got spanked. Unfortunately, they beat us the following year at home too.

On the flip side, a strong away game would be great for SOS, as all of our tough games are at home so far. And quite frankly, we should beat that team.

Either way, this is exciting news. I might even consider traveling for it. No, not really, but the more rumors that surface without mentioning Gardner-Webb, the more excited I become.

Smurf Turf??

I don’t have a problem with playing them at home, but fuck going up there and playing on that smurf turf. I really think it’s an unfair advantage having their uniforms the same color as the field. It just seems like it would be deceptive and possibly affect the opposing player’s ability to find the ball by a split second or so. I could be totally wrong about this, but either way, it’s uglier than shit.

Agreed

That field is absurd and would have to be an unfair advantage, f’en bright blue?! Who does that and why is it legal? I believe, not sure about this, but don’t they have a crazy home record? Wonder why that is. Since 05 they have only lost to BC at home. Before that was in 01 and two in 98.

a little off subject...

But is it true that SB Nation is a subsidiary of Daily Kos? If so, I’m going to boycott the Cup. Of course, I’m kidding. But seriously, I have objections about giving Markos Moulitsas anything more than a middle finger… the guy is terrible.

In short, yes.

He and Tyler Bleszinski (of Oakland A’s blogging fame) co-founded SBNation. Whether you agree or disagree with his political views, the guy has done a good job with SB Nation.

12th game

I think whether the game is played home or away, it is a step in the right direction to build our out-of-conference schedule. How many of you Rebel fans have ever been to Idaho? Me either. If it’s in Boise, then let’s show them just how big of a fan base the Rebels can produce. If it’s in Oxford, well, then the Broncos really get to see the Rebellion!
