Freakin' love it...

…calling out…uh, yeah, what’s-his-face (I think it’s “Rick” something-or-other? I guess, I see those “Rowdies” shirts all over campus). Kinda wish he hadn’t mentioned last year’s “unpleasantness” but at least he basically called Andy a class act. Good luck to the Golden Eagles the rest of the season (I can say that now that the Rebels won)!

FYI: I’ll be attending tonight’s pre-planned “flash rave” at State’s library; I’ll let you know how many cowbells they bring and if anyone bashes heads in with them.

Rick Stansbury I believe is still the coach at State.

I know

…I was being facetious. Down here you can’t help but know, they drill in in to you.

When he was the head coach at Iowa State, he took them to the Elite Eight.

He was Big XII coach of the year twice. He is a damn fine coach. He has fallen on “hard times” with regards to his coaching career because of personal issues, not poor coaching.

But you didn't explain why he's somehow better than Stansbury or Kennedy.

Eustachy did fine at Iowa State, but it probably didn’t hurt that he followed up Tim Floyd (who did okay recently at Southern Cal, you may remember). As far as building a program, he is in his sixth year at Southern Miss without demonstrable results. No NIT. No nothing.

It’s not like you to make unfounded statements like that, pal. But I’m calling you out on this one. I am certainly not the basketball guy around here. But saying that Eustachy is the best “schemes and knowledge” coach in Mississippi based on his performance at Iowa State is, I think, a conclusion that lacks an argument.

Andy Kennedy was very visibly outcoached on Saturday.

Rick Stansbury’s basketball team just lost to Rider and Richmond at home.

The proof’s in the puddin’, if you ask me.

Andy Kennedy is an international altercation specialist.

He doesn’t deal with domestic issues.

While State did lose to Richmond...

….they did not lose to Richmond at home, so stop saying that. That tourney was in South Padre Island, TX, in what looked like a high school gymnasium.

Ok my bad on the location of the loss.

Still, it’s not exactly a sign of good things to come for Stansbury’s squad. But crazier things have happend, I suppose.

Ya...

I don’t think I give all that credit to Eustachy though. We played terrible. Kennedy really had two options, stick with man-to-man D, where your players are so conveniently trying to give the game away, or go to zone and pray. He tried both and he eventually found that some heightened pressure in their half helped. I cannot blame Kennedy for not manning up.

I cannot really defend losing to Rider. Losing by 1 to Richmond is not that bad. They are a good team every so often and they have made it common practice to upset someone. Southern Miss is a school that gets no respect (not without reason, but that’s for another thread) and this is the one opportunity to get some this season.

Once again, I do not think Kennedy is an elite coach, just that you are giving too much to Eustachy.

I might have to bite my tougue to admit this but...

For the level of talent and the lack of enthusiam in Southern’s basketball program Eustachy seems as if he is a very capable coach (Or possibly our defense allowing them to drive to the hoop without any opposition was the shining point of his team) . Could be very scary to see him pull in a tournament type caliber recuiting class, but with that said I enjoyed him referring to Rick Stansbury as “Whats-His-Name”. Gave me something to smile about while i toil away in the library.
