Tuesday Question: Wednesday Edition

Generally, Ivory Tower writes some wordy intro to this segment.  I don't know verbatim what the verbiage used here would be, nor do I care enough to look it up.  Just know that Ivory Tower is very likely in his familial home in what is apparently the last county in the United States to not have the infrastructure necessary for internet access.  As such, I will be handling his duties today.

Today's very lazy Tuesday Question on a Wednesday is:

What is the deal with Dan Mullen?

Did he figure out right away that State fans care more about Ole Miss' shortcomings than their success, and his minor press conference digs and "TSUN" bullshit merely reflect that; or is he just a dick?

That is well put.

Ghost and you both have said the thing that many of us think…yet (at least I) hope they don’t rely on…which is that we will perform worse regardless of what is happening in their own cow pen down “at that school to the South.”

And that crap about not calling us Ole Miss….that started with Sherrill, didn’t it? It doesn’t matter to me one whit what they call us. I just think the name game is stupid. I liken it to a playground squabble where the sore loser tries to save face by saying, “Oh YEEEAAAAHH? Well, you’re a BUTT-FACE!”

That’s all you got? Please.

So Mullen wants to luxuriate in the name game started by a sleazy guy like Sherrill? Let him. I’d hoped he’d be more classy than that…but to each his own.

He's mostly just an ass.

He needs to figure out that being a dick to Ole Miss won’t help him consistently win at State. He’d be better served to focus on actual positive recruiting rather than “positive” recruiting where he just not-so-subtly jabs at Ole Miss. Being an ass in the SEC is fine, as long as you can back it up (see: Spurrier, Steve). Being a dick to your rivals when you can’t really back up your shit-talk ends badly (see: Orgeron, Ed).

As a person that lives at Sterling in Oxford and only gets Memphis news channels, I have no idea what this TSUN speak is. Someone enlighten me please.

Mullen refuses to say "Ole Miss"

He refers to us as “The School Up North”

And...

…it mirrors the former moo u coach Jackie Sherrill who also refused to call us “Ole Miss.” He regularly called us “Mississippi” like ignorant, out-of-the-loop sports reporters who do the same thing.

For them, they are exposed as reporters who are too lazy to research their subject schools. Sherrill…he’s just exposed as childish. His persistence at referencing us as “Mississippi” always made me laugh.

Evidently Mrs. Mullen is in on the action too.

She was on the WJTV “Egg Bowl Preview” (which was really, really bad) yesterday talking about how Humpty Dumpty Dan was after games. She said, “Oh, he’s pretty much the same after a loss as he is when we won a bunch like when we were at that other school.”

Evidently Florida is referred to as “That Other School” in the Mullen household.
