Basketball Note: Yes, we still play that.

First team All-SEC guard Terrico White.

First team All-SEC guard Terrico White.

Oh yes we do, and we're actually supposed to be pretty good at it this season.

Terrico White, one year removed from being named the SEC Freshman of the Year, has naturally been tabbed as a first team All-SEC guard.  Perhaps this is somewhat surprising, but what qualifies as "pretty damned surprising" is the announcement of Chris Warren as a second team All-SEC guard.  I don't mean to suggest the now veteran Rebel point guard isn't deserving, but he missed nearly half of last season due to injury.  The media pundits think very highly of the guy which is pretty exciting even if not terribly indicative of anything.

Along with those accolades, our Rebels were selected to finish behind the Bullfrauds (lol!) at second in the West.  While we at the Cup doubt anybody will be able to best the Kentucky Wildcats atop the SEC this season, we remain optimistic about our chances to unseat the Western Division Bulldogs.  Why?  Because we're Ole Miss and they're State.  Such sentiments are only natural.

We at the Cup hope to cover basketball in a manner which our loyal readers come to expect.  Get ready.  This season should be exciting.

Warren actually missed well over half of the season.

He played 12 out of 29 games.

You misread.

Look again. He played 12 of 29, meaning he missed 17 of 29. He missed over half of the season.

I must be dislexic

becuase I read that he “missed nearly half of last season”, which is somehow less than approximately 59% of the season. If my comma is wrong, I’m drunk. If my math is wrong, send me to AA and call me Gonzo.
