Black Bears?

I've seen a lot of posts on message boards (OMSB) about changing our mascot to the black bears. Seriously, almost every visible post on the board is a suggestion of how we should change our mascot. Because of the whole crappy athletic department t-shirt thing we have going at Ole Miss and on this blog, I thought I might show you the reason that we shouldn't change to any of these. Click on the t-shirt designs for necessary biggification.

Black Bears

Labs

Rough Riders

Catfish

As you can see, no matter what our mascot's name is, there will always be these ridiculous sayings. That's why we should be the Ole Miss flood... then the worst you get is this...

Wow... on second thought... maybe we should just stick to the Rebels...

¿Qué es esto? Black bears? As in, the Ole Miss Black Bears? Or we'd have a bear logo/live animal and call him "Rebel"?

My grandfather has a pennant from once upon a time before penicillin, TVA, Joe Paterno, or the forward pass. It has white letters on a navy background. It says "Mississippi Flood".

For an institution so steeped in self-proclaimed tradition and heritage, if we just HAD to change "Rebels" the former only makes too much geographical and historical sense.

Also, props on the counter. Sometimes I like to just sit here and just watch the seconds tick away for a while...

Ole Miss Purple Haze

Just change our colors to purple and light green

Yeah, you'd better remain annonymous. I'd hate to see what would happen to someone who shows their face while suggesting purple be one of Ole Miss' colors.

Is there serious talk about changing the mascot again? Or is it just rumor?

"changing the mascot" would imply that Ole Miss has one.

If we can keep a black bear on the sidelines on a leash like UGA I like this idea.

Everyone talks about UGA biting other players, what are they going to say when Colonel Black Bear takes a bite out of a State player

He'll have taken a bite outta crime.
